Garden Pictures June 2020

Good progress being made across most of the garden.

The stump of the oak tree
Taking out the oak tree, along with the underlying hedgerow has made a dramatic difference to this area of the garden.  I've dug over the soil and mulched with a layer of newspaper, shredded hedge, then grass cuttings to suppress any weed growth.  Laid down some old tyres, filled with soil and compost and planted with peas and courgettes.  In the autumn I'll replant with fruiting hedgerow trees.  You can see how far the hedgerow extended by the bare soil rather than grass.  Below is a photo taken when I was working on cutting down the oak (a small bit at a time).

More photos to come as the year progresses, hopefully with some of the successful harvest!
