Hadrian's Wall Trail

This has been the second National Trail that I've completed. I arrived in Carlisle by train at 12:42pm on Monday 10th June, caught the bus to Bowness-on-Solway and started the walk just before 14:00. About 107 miles later, I caught Friday's 17:58 from Newcastle to Kings Cross, to get back home to Bracknell.

It was an excellent week and I really enjoyed the walk and the scenery. Along the walk there's a wealth of Roman ruins with many informational signs giving the historical context. The weather was pretty good - although raining most of Thursday. Wednesday was probably the highlight for me, covering the highest ground and due to the difficulty of access, had the best preserved sections of wall. The only downside of Wednesday was the total lack of pub or cafe stops for the majority of the day, the first coming after over 20 miles!
