The Three Castles Path links Winchester and Windsor, passing by the ruins of Odiham Castle (also known as 'King John's Castle').
I became aware of the Three Castles Path as it passes through the Bracknell area and shares several miles of the Ramblers Route (which I've walked several times -
click here). Having seen way markers and become aware of it, subsequently finding the Three Castles Path
website, it was merely a question of "when", rather than "if" I'd be walking it. After all - it passes within a couple of miles of my house.
I decided to walk it over two days, starting at Windsor. Day 1 consisted of catching a bus to Windsor, walking to Hook and getting the train back to Bracknell. Day 2 I drove to Hook, parked, walked to Winchester and caught the train back to Hook and my car.

The Strava GPS trace. Full details: Day 1 and Day 2 |
So, walk completed and according to Strava I did 10 more miles than the official 60 it's supposed to be. I started by the river, rather than the castle in Windsor and I probably did some excess in Winchester too. I didn't knowingly get lost. I did walk from the path to Hook rail station and back, which would add a few miles. 10 seems a bit much though - maybe Strava's GPS is generous to me. Anyway, a great two day walk. Interesting history to discover along the route and excellent scenery with the walking almost all being off road. Apart from the REALLY wet start, the weather was kind to me. Another path ticked off 😀
